An Attraction ♥

c.1. Calling Chatham-Kent musicians, writers, actors, historians, and all the rest of you. Anyone from Chatham-Kent may put on, singly or as part of a group, their own Attraction.

At Sightings, you may put on whatever you like, wherever you like (including outside), whenever you like. You can do it once or repeat it throughout the nine days.

If you'd like to put on more than one Attraction you must sign up separately for each. Thanks.

c.2. When you've signed up, you'll be an Attraction, whether there is one or more of you involved.

c.3. Sightings will help you find a location for your Attraction. Whoever agrees to have you use their place is called your Host. It can be a large, medium, or small place, depending on your needs. It can be in a store, a restaurant, a gallery, an event venue, etc.

c.4. You can't charge admission, but you can ask pleasantly for donations.

You will be given an honorarium, the same amount whether there are one or more people in the Attraction. Much of the money that comes to Sightings from Sponsors and fundraising will go to honorariums.

Charities, service clubs, youth groups, and so on may have an area to promote themselves—no honorarium, though. Nothing can be sold (same as every Attraction) and no businesses will be accepted.

c.5. Your Attraction will be added to the Sightings Schedule, along with a description of what you will do. Sightings will promote your Attraction. You must promote your own Attraction, also (a larger audience is good), and at the same time promote Sightings. Thanks.

If you need sound equipment, special lighting, etc., you or your Host must provide it. You may also find an Individual Attraction Sponsor to help. Keeping everything simple is best, if at all possible.

c.6. If you require insurance, you or you together with the Host, must provide it.

c.7. No profane language or overt crudity, please. Sightings is for children, too.

♥ D. How To Participate By Hosting An Attraction ♥

e.1. Your business, charity, place of worship, club, event venue, or other establishment may volunteer to be a Host, provided that you are within a half-mile radius of King and Fifth Streets. You can have one or more Attractions on one or more days. Whatever suits you best is fine with Sightings.

e.2. You don't have to have a stage or special lighting or even chairs to host. You can host an Attraction or two where you are or, if suitable, outside.

Some Attractions will need small spaces, some medium, and some large. Stores, coffee spots or restaurants, event venues, offices, galleries, hair or nail salons, etc., are all fine. All you need is room for the Attraction and some members of the public.

e.3. The Sightings website will display your name and location, the days and times of your Attraction(s), and a link to your website.

e.4. You will be thanked on the website, on social media, and at the Closing Reception.

e.5. You and the Attraction must provide any needed lighting, sound, and the like.

e.6. Please hang the Sightings posters that you will be given. It will have a brief description of Sightings and a link and QR code to the sightings website. Put one up in a window where it can be easily seen from the sidewalk. Inside, too, if there's a spot for it. Thanks.

e.7. If either you or the Attraction require insurance, it's up to one or both of you to provide it.

b.8. Sightings will provide you with a friendly written friendly agreement that will ensure that both of you understand what the other will contribute and be responsible for.

♥ E. How To Participate By Being A Sponsor ♥

f.a. About Being A Sponsor

1. Sponsorship can be in the form of promotion, financial assistance, transportation, joining up Attractions and Hosts, helping when the Attraction is happening—any way you'd like to boost Sightings.

The types of sponsorships are described below in f.b. to f.d.

2. One type is Financial Sponsor. Money is needed for advertising, for honorariums for groups and individuals that put on Attractions, for the Closing Reception, and for other needed expenses.

A portion of all money donated will go to the Sightings Charity.

3. Many types of Sponsorship don't involve money. They have other ways of assisting Sightings.

4. You will be listed on the Sightings website with your name, the type of sponsor you are, and a link to your website.

You will be named and thanked at the Closing Reception.

You will also be thanked on social media, the Sightings website, and in whatever way we can find to let people know about your generosity.

5. Please agree that whatever your type of sponsorship, you will help promote Attractions, the Opening Reception, and Sightings itself on your Facebook, X, and Instagram whenever it's convenient.

Also, please share as well as like the posts put out by Sightings, as sharing will bring the posts to a larger audience than just liking.

6. All financial donations are tax-deductible and receipts will be issued.

You will be named on the Sightings website and all other places where you are mentioned as the (your name or organization's name) (your level title) Sponsor.

★ Sightings Anchor Sponsor: $5,000

You, as the Anchor Sponsor, in addition to your much-appreciated donation, will be asked to be something of a Sponsor Chair or Sponsor Cheerleader—with very little work involved.

★ Sightings Advertising Sponsor: $4,000

Your donation will ensure that Sightings has as many attendees (call them Sightlings, if you like) as possible, on the first day and every day.

★ Sightings Closing Reception Sponsor: $4,000

It will be a grand, fine party to end Sightings. Your money will provide food and non-alcoholic beverages, sound system and DJ, and wonderful hospitality.

★ Sighting Posters Sponsor: $3,000

There will be posters in windows and inside of businesses and other establishments starting three weeks before first day of Sightings.

They will have a brief explanation of Sightings, a map with all the Host locations, and a QR code to the Sightings Schedule. They will let everyone who lives, works, and shops in the area know what is about to happen.

They will be a big help in letting people know about Sightings.

★ Sightings Prize Draws Sponsor: $2,000

There will be an each-of-the-nine-days Draw in which one lucky Sightings attendee who enters that day will win $100. even luckier attendee will win $500, which will be drawn for those who entered all the daily draws. It will be drawn at the Closing Reception.

Your donation will help to bring as many people as possible to Sightings.

★ Sightings Print Ads Sponsor: $2,000

You will help make them wonderful.

★ Sightings Radio Ads Sponsor: $2,000

Good quality radio ads will bring many people to Sightings. The more people attend and enjoy themselves the better it will be for the Attractions.

★ Sightings Reserve Fund/Emergency Fund Sponsor: $1,000

If there's a problem that takes a large-for-Sightings sum of money, your donations will solve it. If it's untouched, please give it to Honorariums—ditto for not-used-up funds.

★ Sightings "Before-The-Opening-Day Assistant" Sponsor: $1,000

This assistant will help with all aspects of Sightings. They will be invaluable for moving preparation along smoothly, will work with social media and video, and deal with who knows how many problems.

★ Sightings "During-The-Nine-Days Sound, Video, & All Round Handy Technical Assistant" Sponsor: $1,000

This assistant will help with technical support where and when needed in the Sightings area. Attractions may ask them for advice ahead of time or call them when some help is needed.

★ Sightings "During-The-Nine-Days Problem Solver" Sponsor: $1,000

This assistant will walk around and through the Sightings area, visit the Attractions, and keep an eye on things.

They will help with any problems that show up for Hosts, Attractions, or the public. The will make sure that the volunteers are fed and happy and give them any needed help; smile a lot; settle the occasional argument; coddle the press; and be a butler, street-cleaner, and (sometimes), crowd controller.

★ Sightings "During-The-Nine-Days Sound, Video, & All Round Handy Technical Person" Sponsor: $1,000

This assistant will help with technical support where needed in the Sightings area. Attractions may book them ahead of time or call them when needed.

f.c. Individual Attraction Sponsors (Many Needed)

You will help one Attraction with promotion, organization, transportation, and so on. You may, if you wish, help by renting a venue or other financial assistance, though financial help is certainly not necessary. If you are asked for money, feel free to say no.

You will be called an Attraction Sponsor. The Sightings website will list your name with a link to your website along with the name of your Attraction.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of Retrofest, Crowfest, and every other event. Without the help of volunteers, no event would be a success.

As a volunteer, you will help by making Sightings run smoothly and taking care of any little difficulties. There will be no long shifts. You will have your choice of days and times.

You will make sure everything's OK wherever you are, be greeter and answerer of questions, run errands, and encourage anxious Attractions.

I. Information About "Tons Of Busks"—You Can Be A Performer!

Here's your chance to show off your special talent in public. You can sing, dance, play, recite, juggle, or otherwise entertain—or try something new.

If you're not used to performing in public, you might be embarrassed at first, but you will enjoy the experience.

There will be outdoor spots (called "pitches by buskers) in the Sightings area, where you can perform each day of Sightings from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

You can't sign up ahead of time—just show up at the pitch whenever you're ready. Here's a link to the Sightings Schedule with each day's location of the pitch.

There will be an Emcee at the pitch, to introduce and thank you, encourage your audience, and ensure you don't go over the time limit, which is a maximum of 30 minutes.

Please don't exceed the limit, as the next busker will be anxious to begin. If no other busker is waiting, however, you may go on until one appears.

Finally, those who busk and "Tons Of Busks" itself are not Attractions. They are a separate and wonderful part of Sightings.
